Emmerdale confirms emotional Belle Dingle episode in soap first with ‘multiple scenarios’

Emmerdale will appear to air a soap first next week, or at least something unusual in soap land.

A special episode focusing on Belle Dingle will see her imagined futures play out with different scenarios. Based on her current and future decisions, we will see more than one future she could be faced with amid her ordeal at the hands of abusive husband Tom King.

The soap’s domestic violence storyline reaches a huge point next week, after Belle’s recent turmoil. Viewers will know that Tom coercively controlled wife Belle for months before turning violent.

After Belle left Tom and ended their marriage he began spying on her while also trying to make others believe Belle was mentally unstable. Tom even ran over their dog Piper and allowed Belle to believe she had died, while he’s actually given the dog away.

Next week things reach a huge point, with a special hour-long episode in a completely different format to what we normally see. Following another showdown with manipulative Tom, Belle will be left in a daze wandering through the village.

We will then be shown three different potential future realities that could happen to Belle depending what she does next. It’s said to be a “dream-like day” for Belle, as she imagines what her future may hold depending how she handles her horrifying situation with Tom.

We will see inside her mind and through her eyes as she imagines the different realities ahead of her in emotional scenes. It seems each scenario will play out one after the other, and it’s thought one of them will be quite distressing.

Teasers reveal that Belle observes situations that may never actually happen in reality, and that viewers will realise the horror of what could occur in her future if Tom isn’t stopped. But what will we see, and could Belle be in serious danger?

With Belle fearful of speaking out against Tom recently, could these imagined futures be what pushes her to reveal all to her family and the police? Viewers will have to tune in next week to find out what Belle does in the wake of her special episode.
