Danny Miller reveals why he doesn’t want his son watching Emmerdale

Danny Miller has been playing Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle on and off since2008, but he doesn’t want his son to watch the ITV soap.
The actor is dad to 3-year-old Albert, 2-year-old Edith and 6-month-old Vincent, who he shares with wife Steph Jones.
On a recent episode of the You Don’t Know You’re Born podcast, which he co-hosts with Coronation Street alumna Brooke Vincent and radio presenter Nigel ‘Wingman’ Clucas, Danny revealed that eldest son Albert had been showing an interest in performing.
The trio were discussing balancing work with parenting, and the conversation turned to whether their kids knew what their jobs were.
‘Albert’s now aware of it because he’s taken a real interest, not forced whatsoever, in performing arts. Dancing and singing, which I’m not interested in, and acting,’ Danny explained.
‘He likes all three of them, so I hone in on that, saying that I am an actor, that’s my job. But we’ve not really touched on it, and I also wouldn’t want him to watch [Emmerdale] because it would be confusing.’

He went on to explain that Albert would be confused to see his dad kiss someone who wasn’t Steph, whether that was a man or a woman.
‘It’s nothing to do with the fact that it’s a man, but I obviously have to kiss my on-screen husband, so that’s a conversation we need to have at some point with him.
‘But also, he’d be going, “Why are you not kissing mummy?” Because that’s all he sees, is kissing mummy. So even if it was a girl, the sexuality of the character doesn’t matter.’
Brooke agreed that it would be confusing for their children to see them kissing someone they didn’t know, regardless of gender.
‘It’s either that or I’m punching somebody, which as a parent you don’t want!’ Danny added, to which Brooke responded: ‘Or you’ll be crying, and they’ll ask why you’re upset.’

Danny went on to explain that occasions when he’s stopped by fans and asked for pictures while with Albert are what spark the conversations about what Danny does for a living.
‘There are moments where he’s looking and thinking, “Why does that person want a picture with you and not me?” and that’s when the explanations come that this is my job,’ Danny said.
In 2023, Brooke returned to Coronation Street, where she had played Sophie Webster until 2019, to visit the set with son Mexx, who was three at the time.
The pair posed for a photo outside the iconic Rovers Return, as well as other locations on the street, which Brooke then posted to Instagram.
‘Today I took Mexx back to Corrie’, she shared in the caption. ‘Last time I was here I was about to give birth to him!!! 3 years have passed, everything is different and yet everything is still the same.’
Brooke and Mexx also paid a visit to the costume department, and watched some scenes being filmed.
Brooke is soon set to return to the world of soap as she joins the cast of Hollyoaks in the coming weeks, it was recently announced.
This was a topic they went on to discuss on the podcast, with Brooke sharing her worries about making the transition from mum to working full-time again.
Danny and Wingman were full of advice, and Danny made Brooke tearful as he showered her with praise.
