The first week of 2025 in Emmerdale begins in perhaps an unsurprising way soon, as confirmed in our new spoiler pictures. It’s full of drama, secrets getting exposed, and the start of a hopeful new romance.
As the new year begins, Emmerdale audience members will be treated to five flash forwards on New Year’s Eve. They feature a variety of characters, but what do they mean and what futures do they hint at?
Marlon Dingle’s (Mark Charnock) start to 2025 isn’t going to be a hopeful one. Following multiple clashes with daughter April (Amelia Flanagan), he spends time stressed and by the end of the week, he is clashing with wife Rhona (Zoe Henry).
Ruby’s (Beth Cordingly) dad Anthony (Nicholas Day) finds out a secret and later, the much loved character breaks her silence during an emotional chat with Chas (Lucy Pargeter).
Also in the village, Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Moira (Natalie J Robb) sit down for a quiet lunch together ahead of her hospital visit and Bob (Tony Audenshaw) is emotional as the anniversary of Heath’s (Sebastian Dowling) death approaches.
Alongside a new romance brewing between Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) and Sarah (Katie Hill), a storyline begins that sees Jacob put his uni work to the test and heads to a hospital for his work placement.
‘When I first went up to the meeting with the producer Sophie, she told me there was going to be an hour-long episode coming up dedicated to Jacob’s first day of placement on A&E. I remember being hit with all these emotions,’ Joe-Warren shared.
‘Knowing how many people have this high-pressure job and I felt the pressure to really knuckle down with it and get it right.
‘Tackling this storyline scared me a bit at first but to know but they trusted me to tell it, it means a lot and I do feel very honoured.’
