Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter has revealed the unique name for her daughter, whom she welcomed last month.
Porter, who plays Theresa McQueen on the Channel 4 soap, announced on December 11 that she had welcomed a baby girl with fiancé Oliver Piotrowski, with the pair saying that their life was “complete.”
In a new interview with OK! Magazine, Porter revealed that the couple – who welcomed a son, Forest, in 2022 – had decided to name their daughter Peony, with the actor explaining the reasons behind their choice.
“We’d not heard of anyone with the name Peony and I love the flowers, they’re so beautiful,” said Porter. “But we were literally desperate to tell people her name before someone else had a baby and chose it before us!
“We didn’t give her a middle name because she’s Peony Porter Piotrowski which is already quite a lot for a kid to say, isn’t it?” continued the star, who quipped that the term felt like “100 years.”
“Honestly, it was the longest time,” she remarked. “Margot Robbie had her baby about a week after she announced her pregnancy – I was pregnant for what felt like 100 years! The trouble was that my bump popped really early so I couldn’t hide it.”
Porter added: “It was harder this time, but I felt like I really should enjoy it more and milk it. If I randomly wanted to lie down, I’d lie down, I just didn’t care what other people thought. I wanted to enjoy it.”
Whilst the star will be busy raising Peony in the coming months alongside her fiancé, Porter did hint that it wouldn’t be too long before she returned to Hollyoaks, teasing: “I love working – I‘ve been doing it from such a young age.
“I did Hollyoaks and Dancing On Ice at the same time. Obviously it’s not as easy having a baby too, but maybe I’ll ask them if I can just bring Peony to the show and then ask the costume department if they can just hide her!”
