Jason Donovan gives career update on Hollyoaks star daughter Jemma after her soap axe
Hollyoaks star Jemma Donovan left the soap last year in an explosive storyline - and now the 24-year-old has a new job, her famous dad Jason has revealed on ITV's Lorraine
TV star Jason Donovan has given an update on his soap star daughter Jemma after her explosive Hollyoaks exit last year.
The actor, 24, played the role of party girl and influencer Rayne Royce from 2023 until last January, when the character was killed off at a luxury manor party. Since Jemma left the soap over a year ago, fans haven’t seen much of the star, whose last role was the E4 series.
However, her famous father Jason has given an update on what she’s been up to. Speaking to Lorraine’s Christine Lampard, Jason admitted that Jemma has been helping him with his social media after being asked about a recent video of his pre-show ritual.

“First of all, my daughter did that social media – she’s been doing stuff for me recently,” he said. “They understand the internet far better than I could ever do it. Also, she’s great with it, she gets the best out of it.”
On preparing to perform in his UK tour, Jason added: “Performing is like being an athlete. It’s the same thing and I guess the older you get, the more you’re conscious of performing to your maximum.”
Last year, Jemma announced that she’s set to be in a new interactive horror called The Run alongside Game of Thrones star Roxanne McKee. Announcing the job on Instagram, she wrote: “Super excited to be a part of this team!!!” Since making her Hollyoaks debut, Jemma has been dating former co-star Owen Warner after the pair’s characters struck up an on-screen romance. Opening up about their relationship in the past, Owen said: “Jemma kept messaging me and messaging and asking me to go on dates and then I just gave in.
“Seriously though, it took me a while to pluck up the courage to ask her out.” The pair are still going strong, with Jemma and Owen heading on a skiing holiday in December and sharing snaps from their getaway on Instagram last month. “A lovely end to the year,” Jemma wrote as the caption.
At the end of last year, Jason Donovan left This Morning fans divided when he duetted with presenter Alison Hammond on the show. The pair performed Especially For You on the ITV show, with viewers writing on social media: “Alison living her best life #ThisMorning.”
