Hollyoaks viewers say ‘was never expecting that’ as favourite killed off after 12 years
Hollyoaks viewers were left gobsmacked as villager Robbie Roscoe was unexpectedly killed off in a bone-chilling twist which fans of the Channel 4 soap didn't see coming
Hollyoaks have confirmed Robbie Roscoe (Charlie Wernham) has been killed off after 12 years.
The fan favourite was held captive by Grace Black (Tamara Wall) for months after she believed he was an informant working for the police.
He was subsequently freed from captivity and resolved to leave the village, bidding farewell to his loved ones but it was soon revealed that, despite his apparent departure, he’d been taken prisoner by Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) who held him captive in the shed.
Jez has been sharing his deepest, darkest secrets with the former nightclub owner. Despite his refusal to set Robbie free, the deranged gardener ultimately decided that he wanted to be a better person after chat with daughter Sienna Blake (Anna Passey).
He allowed Robbie to walk, believing he’d have a chance to reunite with Vicky Grant (Anya Lawrence), who had been trying to get in touch with her fiancé.
However, during Wednesday’s (August 6) episode, Robbie walked into Vicky’s line of sight but she couldn’t see him and walked through Robbie, who subsequently vanished.
It was later revealed in a twist that Robbie was a figment of Jez’s imagination, with a twisted flashback confirming that he’d been murdered by serial killer Jez shortly after his capture.
Opening up about the jaw-dropping twist to social media, one fan penned: “My jaw is to the floor after the end of this mornings episode. Was never expecting that.”
Another added: “I was so shocked as well can’t believe Robbie is dead. Really thought he was alive.” A third person said: “was definitely not expecting that #Hollyoaks could’ve cried.”
A fourth wrote: “Shocked about Robbie, was hoping he would have survived. I really hope that scumbag Jez gets his comeuppance soon. Surely they’re not gonna drag this on for too long # hollyoaks.”
Meanwhile, Sienna had been given reason to suspect that there was more to her dad’s lies than meets the eye and, after being tipped off by an unsuspecting Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) about Dilly Harcourt’s (Emma Johnsey-Smith) alleged role in the murder of Ian Stone, she made it her mission to dig up the truth.
Her entire world imploded as she uncovered Jez’s secrets, realising that he was to blame for the deaths of Bobby Costello (Zak Sutcliffe) and Robbie Roscoe.
The flashback during the latest episode, which is available to watch on Channel 4 streaming, appears to indicate that Robbie was long dead by the time the aforementioned scenes unfolded, meaning that Jez has been hallucinating this whole time.
Actor Charlie Wernham made his debut as Robbie in 2013 before leaving in 2016. However, he reprised his role last year.
