SIENNA Blake looks set to marry ex-boyfriend Ethan Williams in a shock Hollyoaks wedding twist.

The former flames were revealed to have reunited following the show’s one year time jump.

Despite nuptials seemingly being on the horizon, it seems their honeymoon period won’t last long.

In June, it was announced that Matthew James Bailey had quit the show after three years playing Ethan.

The actor joined a long list of stars who have departed the drama in recent months.

An insider said at the time: “Fans have loved Ethan since he burst onto the soap as a kidnapper and he’s had some brilliant scenes.

“He’s decided to move on, but his character is not being killed off – so there is always the hope he can return in future.”

Fans were left unhappy about the decision, as one wrote on social media: “Best new character Hollyoaks have had in years, who becomes a fan favourite in his own right and half of a hugely popular couple.

“So they split them up, give him very little to do in ages now he’s going. Gutted.”

Ethan and Sienna (Anna Passey) had enjoyed a romance in previous years.

Although their relationship broke down after she became interested in Rafe (Chris Gordon) instead.

This also infuriated viewers – especially those who’d grown to love the couple.

Addressing Ethan’s exit, a distraught fan fumed: “Noooo not Ethan! My Ethenna heart is broken. Sending hugs to Ethan stans.”

Another penned: “Gutted it’s been confirmed that Matthew James Bailey is leaving Hollyoaks another one that has been axed.

“Ethan is a good character, wonder how he is going to exit.”

Meanwhile, Executive producer Hannah Cheers announced that 20 cast members would be axed during the transition between the five and three episode format of the show.

This has seen the departures of popular characters including James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan), who appeared for nine years.

In his final scenes, the character was blown up by a car bomb.

Other cast departures include Owen Warner (who played Romeo Nightingale) and Jamie Lomas (who played Warren Fox).

Hollyoaks airs Monday to Wednesday at 7pm on E4.
