Hollyoaks stars Ruby O’Donnell and Nathaniel Dass share secrets of their real-life romance

Hollyoaks stars Ruby O’Donnell and Nathaniel Dass have spoken about their real-life romance. The pair confirmed they were a real-life couple last year, and revealed a few secrets in a new interview, including how they first hit it off.
Speaking on Hollyoaks Unwrapped, Ruby – who plays Peri Lomax – said they have now been together for nearly two years, before presenter Kieron Richardson asked whether they had said “I love you” to one another yet.
“We’re building up to that bit,” Dillon Ray actor Nathaniel joked, before Ruby declared: “Course we have!”
Opening up about the first sparks flying a few years ago, Ruby admitted they “obviously fancied each other”, though they didn’t get a chance to properly cross paths for a while.
“We didn’t work together,” she recalled. “So, there was a whole year when Nate joined the show where we didn’t really speak much. But obviously I fancied him. Have you seen that face?”
Nathaniel said it “was all very friendly and professional at first”, before the pair really bonded during a work night out.
“We got talking properly,” he shared. “It’s different, because even like with relationships and friendships in Hollyoaks, I find everyone’s in work mode when you’re on set. And it’s those moments outside of work, that’s when you really get to know each other.”
The couple also spoke about their feelings towards watching one another kiss other people on screen, Nathaniel noting: “She has to watch me kiss people. I have to watch you kiss people.”
Ruby echoed that it is “part of the job”, though quipped: “Can’t say it’s my favourite thing in the world!”
Back in August, the couple showed their relationship was going strong as they shared a luxury spa break for Nathaniel’s birthday – and were complimented by castmates including Grace Black actor Tamara Wall.
“You to are the cutest!!!!” she wrote in the Instagram caption at the time.
