Hollyoaks boss Hannah Cheers reveals which character she’d bring back from the dead next

"Anything can happen in soap nowadays."

If there is one thing soap fans are well aware of, it’s that dead doesn’t necessarily mean gone forever, and Hollyoaks boss Hannah Cheers has revealed which character she’d love to see return from beyond the grave.

This year alone we’ve seen Clare Devine and James Nightingale returning to the Channel 4 soap, despite both previously meeting their untimely ends in the story.

And they’re not the only ones, with fan favourite Mercedes McQueen reappearing alive and well in France after being stabbed and presumed dead, and Sully Sullivan surviving being shot.

In the latest episode of Hollyoaks Unwrapped, Ste Hay actor Kieron Richardson sat down with Darren Osborne star Ashley Taylor Dawson, Leela Dexter actor Kirsty-Leigh Porter, and executive producer Cheers to discuss the world of Hollyoaks.

During the show, Cheers explained which beloved character she would like to resurrect next – and it may surprise fans.

When asked the question by Kieron, she said: “Mine would be Harry [Thompson],” to which Kieron jokingly asked how many kids Tony Hutchinson has now.

Harry – played by Daniel Seymour, Harrison George Rhodes, and Parry Glasspool – bowed out of the soap in 2019 after being stabbed in the stomach by Breda McQueen.

Ashley, meanwhile, said he would bring back his character’s mum, Frankie Osborne, saying actor Helen Pearson was a “force of nature” to have on set. “Anything can happen in soap nowadays, she’s only just gone, but you just never know,” Kieron concluded.

Kirsty would like to see the return of Peri Lomax, who recently died in the show after being crushed by debris in the aftermath of a plane crash in the village.

Speaking about his exit storyline back in 2019, Harry actor Glasspool expressed how “lucky” he felt to have been part of the soap.

He told Metro: “I’ve been so lucky. I have always felt lucky to be partnered with Nick, Kieron, and Greg. My ability at the start really didn’t line up with the A-grade storylines I was being given, but I appreciate being given them. I feel like I have improved.

“I have really enjoyed my time here, and I have learned a lot as an actor and also off-screen – there have been a few mistakes made there. It’s been a huge learning curve, and I wish the best for the show; I have had a really good time.”
