Hollyoaks makes major show change after string of character deaths
Did you catch them all?
Hollyoaks has made a major change to its opening titles tonight, following a string of character deaths during its 30th anniversary week. The Channel 4 soap celebrated the milestone event with a huge plane crash stunt, which left multiple lives hanging in the balance.
Though some casualties managed to survive the devastating week, others weren’t so lucky. Among those who died in the aftermath were serial killer Jez Blake, newly-engaged Peri Lomax and (seemingly reformed) villain Grace Black.
Meanwhile, Jez was also responsible for the recent murder of Robbie Roscoe and Martha Blake, which happened prior to the crash.
As well as the shocking deaths, the soap bid farewell to two members of the extended Lomax family during its anniversary celebrations. It was revealed that Leela’s husband Joel Dexter would be transferred to a prison in Scotland, while his mother Marie Fielding left the village to start a new life on Brookside Close.

Tonight’s episode reflected the various cast changes over the last few months, with Jez, Peri, Grace, Marie and Joel all edited out of the opening credits.
Nana McQueen was also noticeably removed from the title sequence, as actor Diane Langton sadly passed away in January this year.

Meanwhile, the character exits are not the only change Hollyoaks has made to its opening credits. Eagle-eyed viewers will be delighted to see the appearance of Goldie and Theresa McQueen who have both returned to the village following a break.
Goldie (played by Chelsee Healey) rejoined the soap this summer and has been involved in various storylines including Bobby Costello’s escape from prison.
Theresa (played by Jorgie Porter) made her return this month during the special Hollyoaks Later episode, which saw her smuggling diamonds for Warren Fox before ultimately scamming him. She will soon make her official return to the main show, where trouble is surely awaiting her.
