Hollyoaks reveals Tony Hutchinson’s fate after devastating death cliffhanger

Hollyoaks has revealed Tony Hutchinson’s fate following the devastating cliffhanger regarding his potential death. After being the victim of a shooting and then a stroke, will the beloved character make it out alive?

Tony was shot last month as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations following various revelations about his personal life, with several characters having a motive to harm him. Darren Osborne seemed to be the most likely candidate, with the character hiring Warren Fox to do his dirty work.

Though he initially planned a hit, Darren said he couldn’t go through with it and a flashback scene confirmed this to be the case. However, Dee Dee has lied to the police and claimed she saw Darren shoot her dad.

In worrying scenes during Monday’s episode, Tony woke from his come and accused his friend of attempted murder before collapsing and being rushed back to hospital. Misbah later told Tony’s family that he had suffered a stroke and she was unable to reassure them that Tony would be OK.

Next week’s scenes will show that Tony does survive, though there will be lingering effects from both the shooting and the stroke as he engages in physiotherapy on his road to recovery.

He receives some support from Mercedes McQueen, though he is heartbroken to discover that she lost her baby after getting trapped in the debris of the plane crash. Mercedes later also comforts Ro, who is struggling to deal with everything.

Despite the flashback scene proving that Darren wasn’t the culprit, actor Ashley Taylor Dawson shared that his character will harbour some guilt over the incident, which has stemmed from Darren’s anger over Tony being Morgan’s biological dad.

“There’s a lot of guilt obviously, because it’s where his head was,” said the actor. “I don’t think he really believes that he’ll be sent down for it, but all the things he’s done and said, he is [the] prime suspect and all the fingers are pointing at him.

“Then, it’s the reality that he could be sent to prison, and it doesn’t matter whose Morgan is then. It’s massive for Darren. His idea was [that] no one ever finds out about this secret. That’s the only way he can mentally deal with it.

“Morgan is his [child], Tony never finds out and then, as a father and a man, he hasn’t lost anything, That was the deal in Darren’s head but obviously it just started spiralling out of control. It all got too much, and he just wanted Tony dead!”
