gone too soon Hollyoaks legend Jamie Lomas pays tribute to Waterloo Road pal after tragic death of Corrie actress’s son
HOLLYOAKS actor Jamie Lomas has paid tribute to Waterloo Road star Will Rush following his tragic death.
The star was left saddened following the passing of the actor aged just 31.
Jamie took to Instagram to share a collage of four photos of him and Will taken over their years.
He simply said: “Rest in Peace Will.”
Reflecting on their close bond, he then added: “Thank you for some great memories pal.”
Jamie and Will are understood to have made friends through their various acting connections.
Will’s mother is former Coronation Street actress Debbie Rush who played popular character Anna Windass.
She worked with Jamie’s then-wife Kym Marsh for the majority of her time on the programme.
Will himself was best known for playing Josh Stevenson on Waterloo Road between 2009 and 2013.
He also auditioned for The X Factor in 2016 before deciding to retire from entertainment the following year.
Debbie appeared in Coronation Street between 2008 and 2018.
She confirmed his death in a heartbreaking post on Instagram this week.
William, 31, passed away on Wednesday, but his cause of death is still unknown.
Paying tribute, Debbie, who played Anna Windass in Corrie, wrote: “Our beautiful baby boy, William, passed away on 17th December.
“As a family, our hearts are completely broken, and there are no words that can truly capture the depth of our loss.
“Even in our darkest moment, William gave the most precious gift of all.”
Debbie said she hoped her son’s legacy could live on through organ donation.
She said: “Through being an organ donor, he has given hope and life to other families, thinking of others right to the very end.
“His kindness and love will forever be part of his legacy.
“We kindly ask that our privacy be respected as we navigate this unimaginable grief.
“William will always be loved, always missed, and forever in our hearts.”
William leaves behind his parents Debbie and Andrew as well as siblings Poppy and Tom.
His sister Poppy is also an actress.
Like her sibling and mother, she has starred in soaps, including one that rivals Corrie.
The singer and actress played Sophie Dodd in EastEnders.
Will was also understood to be engaged to partner Melissa Cotterill, 36, having proposed in June last year.
The pair regularly shared photos of their baby, who was born in October 2024.
