Real-life Hollyoaks couple hit back at split rumours after four-year romance

Eric and Juliet are still going strong.

Real-life Hollyoaks couple Niamh Blackshaw and Angus Castle-Doughty have hit back at rumours of a split following a four-year romance. The couple first met on the set of Hollyoaks in 2022, where they starred as Eric Foster and Juliet Nightingale, respectively.

Although both actors left the Channel 4 soap in 2023, they continued updating fans on their relationship after their departure.

However, recent tabloid reports suggested that the couple had decided to part ways, after Castle-Doughty appeared to erase all trace of Blackshaw from his social media accounts and Blackshaw deleted her account entirely.

Shutting down the suggestion that the pair had split up, Castle-Doughty shared a screengrab of one of the tabloid articles on his Instagram Stories, which he captioned: “???”

In a follow-up post, he shared a photo of himself and Blackshaw enjoying a recent Mamma Mia-themed painting class.

He captioned the selfie: “…Anyway here’s the Mamma Mia painting class we did and the paintings we are really proud of :)”

In another Instagram Story, he added: “We forgot to pick up our paintings so that photo is the only way we can look at them :(“

Blackshaw announced her relationship with Castle-Doughty back in 2023, with a New Year’s post on Instagram in which the couple could be seen posing in front of a Christmas tree.

“Happy New Year [blue heart emoji],” she captioned the picture.

“A year of growth, learning, kindness, loneliness, boundaries and acceptance. Ending in a better space than it began,” she added.

Later that year, Castle-Doughty shared a sweet birthday tribute to his girlfriend on his own social media, sharing a series of photos of the happy couple enjoying a trip to Disneyland Paris.

“Happy Birthday to the Whhick-ed-ly talented, one-and-only Neville Blackbeard,” he captioned the post. “In a tough year, you’ve been a non-stop bright spark. Happy Niamh day, you deserve it all ya absolute rocket.”
