Dying Diane takes destructive action in Hollyoaks as everything collapses around her

Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (March 10) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
Devastated in the wake of her Stage 4 cancer diagnosis, Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher) sought solace in alcohol, much to the shock of husband Tony (Nick Pickard).
Heartbreaking scenes earlier this week saw pub landlady Diane forced to tell longtime love Tony, who she re-married last year, that she has about six months to live.
The news left Tony in tears and, determined to hold onto hope, subsequent scenes saw him contemplate the possibility that perhaps the doctors got it wrong.
Diane, meanwhile, wanted to spend the day with her husband but Tony instead made a beeline for Dee Valley hospital, insisting that he speak with the consultant, adamant that Diane must have been misdiagnosed.
Refusing to accept the possibility of a life without his beloved Diane, the legendary show chef resolved to get a second opinion, booking a private appointment with the best consultant in the country.

But when he arrived home to tell Diane such a thing, he found her with a glass of wine in her hand.
Diane, who has battled alcoholism for a number of years, said that she felt lonely today and – trying to get her head around her diagnosis – she made it clear that if she’s not got long left she intends to enjoy life.
Tony was horrified at her at the prospect of her drinking, fearing she might get addicted again but Diane reiterated that she simply wanted to ‘forget about everything’ for a few hours.
As a result, Tone decided to close the downstairs pub so that they could have a few drinks together but Ro (Leo Cole), Ant (Brook Debio) and Dee Dee (Chloe Atkinson) arrived home, horrified to see Diane drinking.

In a bid to cover their tracks, Tony said they had bad news to share but before he could say anything about her diagnosis, a terrified Diane instead blurted out that their uncle Dom was the one who had cancer.
Ro was heartbroken by the news but it wasn’t just Dom that was playing on his mind as he feared that Diane having a drink was the beginning of a full-blown relapse. Feeling guilty, Diane assured him that she’s not going anywhere.
Realising that booze isn’t the answer, Di decided that she would go for a second opinion at the clinic in London, saying that her kids still need their mum.
Will Ro, Dee Dee and Ant find out about her cancer battle?
