Hollyoaks’ Diane makes major cancer decision following sudden health scare
"We have to face up to the reality."
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for the latest episode to air on E4 and be available on Channel 4 streaming.
Hollyoaks‘ Diane Hutchinson has made a major decision in her terminal cancer storyline after a heartbreaking turn of events.
Diane recently found out that she has stage four ovarian cancer and has approximately six months to live. Earlier scenes this week saw her confide in Nancy Osborne that she thinks Tony is going to need another woman around to keep the family going, especially after the kids messed up cooking a big meal for the family.

In tonight’s episode, Ant and Ro confided in her about how badly Tony himself is struggling. She sent them to collect the pub’s till floats and told Tony that, for everyone’s sake, she’s going to “keep calm and carry on”.
Nancy popped over later on to talk about what Diane said previously, only to find that she had already made a dating profile for her husband.
Out in the village, Kathleen-Angel McQueen offered an upset Ant a supportive hug, which Theresa saw and promptly exploded.
“You are not jumping back into bed with him!” she screamed, which was overheard by Tony, who had no idea
But while Tony and Theresa started to have a barney, Diane keeled over and struggled to breathe.

At the hospital, Misbah Maalik told the family that Diane had “quite a severe reaction to the chemotherapy”. She said there are alternative treatments they could look into, but it would be impossible to say if she might have further reactions or not.
But Diane had another idea. “There’s very little chance that any treatment would help. I have tried, but this is about quality of life now. It’s okay, it is,” she said.
“We have to face up to the reality. There isn’t a cure, so why carry on?”
Everyone, including Misbah, started to break down in tears as Diane told them that she wanted to stop any further treatment.
