Exclusive: Hollyoaks reveals exciting details of Brooke Vincent’s new role

"She's a very dynamic presence."

Following the announcement that soap actor Brooke Vincent will be joining Hollyoaks later this year, producer Hannah Cheers has revealed more about the character – including her name.

Brooke is most well known for her role on Coronation Street, where she played Sally and Kevin Webster’s daughter Sophie between 2004 and 2019. She also competed in the 2018 series of Dancing on Ice, and scored the runner-up spot.

As part of Inside Soap‘s exclusive summer preview, Hannah teased details about Brooke’s new character, named Abigail, revealing that she isn’t related to any existing characters.

“It’s going to be a very different role for her in a major story that will take hold over the summer,” said Hannah. “Her character, Abigail, is not connected to anyone in the village.”

Hannah also gave away that Abigail will be a key player in the Hutchinson children’s grief, following their mum Diane Hutchinson’s death, which plays out on screen this week.

“The story starts when Dee Dee, spiralling after Diane’s death, takes ketamine a couple of times,” Hannah explained. “Tony finds out and makes the rash decision to drive her to a teen rehab facility where she meets this counsellor, Abigail.

“Dee Dee ends up escaping from rehab and Abigail follows her back to the village, then decides to stick around.”

In terms of Abigail’s future in Hollyoaks, Hannah hinted that she may have a change of career as she’s set to get a new job away from the rehab facility that allows her to stick around.

“Abigail’s a very dynamic presence, she’s cool and progressive and loves people,” Hannah enthused. “She makes friends easily and will end up being flatmates with someone in the village, and landing a job there.”
