Exclusive: Hollyoaks star responds to Tony and Leela romance theories
"Tony's had enough women!"

Hollyoaks legend Nick Pickard has revealed his thoughts on a possible romance between his character Tony Hutchinson and Leela Lomax.
In devastating scenes that aired last week, Tony’s wife Diane Hutchinson passed away as a result of terminal ovarian cancer. Her final wish was for Tony to be happy and find love again, and before her death, she attempted to set up Tony with Leela.
In an exclusive chat with Inside Soap, stalwart Nick discussed the possibility of Tony and Leela becoming a couple in the future, saying that he isn’t sure how he’d feel about the pairing.

“Well, I don’t know because I do think he needs to have a bit of time,” reasons Nick. “It’d be a bit unfair to his relationship with Diane to just throw him into this, but I’ve been in a soap for 30 years, so I know how it works.
“I would like him to just have a little break and focus on his kids because they’re all over the place. He’s had enough women in his life, let’s have a bit of peace and quiet!”

When asked about why he thought Diane was so keen for Tony and Leela to pair up, Nick theorised that it could be because she wanted him to avoid Mercedes McQueen, who Tony had a fling with and conceived a child with last year.
“I think Diane was worried that he was going to run off with Mercedes,” mulls Nick. “He had that little fling with her before, and Diane doesn’t want her kids being brought up with Mercedes around!”
