Diane Hutchinson’s (Alex Fletcher) final message for Tony (Nick Pickard) in Hollyoaks sparks fury – and subsequently danger – for Dee Dee (Chloe Atkinson), who is appalled to learn of her mum’s wish for Tony to move on.

Prior to her death, Diane made it clear that she wanted to Tony to find love again after she was gone, encouraging him to make a go of things with Leela Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter), who she thought would be great for the kids too.

Tony repeatedly assured his beloved Di that he couldn’t contemplate the prospect of moving on without her, wanting to spend every minute they had left together.

But after a battle with terminal ovarian cancer, Diane died in emotional scenes earlier this month. Her passing – which came sooner than expected – rocked the Hutchinson clan, who desperately tried to come to terms in a world without their legendary matriarch in it.

Diane left messages for her loved ones and Dee Dee decides to read them all in upcoming scenes – including the letter left by the landlady of The Dog for her husband.

The letter details Di’s wishes for Tony to move on and find love again – and Dee Dee is livid.

The day of Diane’s funeral arrives next week and, as Tony hands out the letters to Dee Dee – unaware she’s read hers already – and Ant (Brook Debio) and Ro (Leo Cole), he is left devastated to discover that the letter intended for him is missing.

The patriarch frantically searches everywhere, desperate to find out what Diane wanted to say to him. Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and Leela subsequently arrive, with Leela offering comfort to a devastated Tone.

Dee Dee, meanwhile, watches from afar. She’s unimpressed and gives Leela the cold shoulder. In that moment, we hear the last line of our Di’s letter – she wants Tony to fall for Leela.

In emotional scenes, the funeral gets underway and the villagers gather together to pay their respects to Diane.

Leela raises a toast to her friend, branding her ‘irreplaceable’, which doesn’t go down too well with Dee Dee, who publicly accuses her of wanting to take her mum’s place.

That remains to be seen. And as for Dee Dee? She heads to the park to drink some wine. Trina subsequently arrives with a bag of ketamine she stole from her sister.
