Hollyoaks reveals Charlie Dean’s unexpected ally ahead of tense cliffhanger

Charlie Dean had an unexpected ally on Hollyoaks tonight, but not before a tense cliffhanger aired. With the teenager facing time behind bars for his part in a car collision, he has struggled to keep it together.

Charlie was behind the wheel when ferrying Frankie Osborne and Vicky Grant to the train station, though it ended in tragedy as his reckless driving led to a collision with a moving truck being driven by the Keanes.

With Caleb, Frankie and Vicky all suffering injuries, Charlie panicked and lied to the police by saying that Jonah was the one responsible for the crash. Amid mounting pressure, Charlie eventually told the truth and confessed to his part.

During Monday’s (25 May) episode of the Channel 4 soap, Charlie visited Caleb in hospital, and apologised for his part in the crash. He got some harsh words from Beth, who said that he would spend many years behind bars.

With Charlie’s mother, Becca Hayton, having died while in prison, the thought of jail time has weighed on Charlie, and he went missing ahead of his trial. Tonight’s instalment began with Darren learning of this from his solicitor, and he had further bad news.

With Charlie being absent for the start of the trial, he would be taken straight to jail instead, but only when he could be found. The Osbornes grew nervous, however, when the police arrived at their home.

Darren fretted over his whereabouts, though Nancy assured him that everything would be okay. That was because she had knowledge of where Charlie was, with the teenager hiding at the school after getting her support.

Nancy explained that she didn’t want to incriminate Darren, but they now knew they had to come up with a plan to get Charlie out of the village. They headed home to get to work, and lied to Frankie about Charlie’s whereabouts.

Back at the school, the walls closed in on Charlie as Dodger Savage arrived with another police officer. He managed to hide behind a wall for the time being, but it remains to be seen if he’ll get out of the building without handcuffs around him.
