The net closes in on Jenson in Hollyoaks as he is caught in hiding at last
Jenson Cole (Ryan Clayton) is forced out of hiding in upcoming Hollyoaks scenes after his unnerving behaviour led to him keeping a low profile.
The former nightclub owner, as viewers know, has proven himself to be a bit of an enigma since rocking up in the eponymous village, keeping his cards close to his chest.
What was clear from the off, however, was the animosity he had towards Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas), who was subsequently revealed to be his long-lost brother.
After getting to know him, it seemed like Jenson turned over a new leaf and wanted to be just like Warren, though one might argue that he simply wants to take Warren’s place as he embarked on a relationship with Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe), which he repeatedly lorded in his older brother’s face.
Last month, Mercedes was left worried about Jenson’s behaviour after he turned up at her home unannounced – and refused to leave when asked.
In subsequent scenes, Warren showed up and kicked his brother out, which set the scene for a reunion for longtime couple Mercedes and Warren, with the former flames sharing a kiss – unaware that Jenson was watching from afar, seething.
Having promised Myra (Nicole Barner-Lane) that he’d keep his distance, Jenson took up residence in the newly-unoccupied Blake residence, hiding out of sight.
Next week, he leaves food unattended at the property, which results in the smoke alarm going off, leaving him worried that his presence in the flat will be exposed.
Mercedes, meanwhile, heads to get her stoma removed and Warren is left to look after the Marias and Sophie and Sebastian. With Sebastian unwell, Myra offers to help.
The matriarch takes Seb to the Blake flat to pick up his console, with Jenson hiding out of sight. But despite his efforts, Myra discovers him – and is left startled.
Jenson heads back with Myra to the McQueens, where he reveals that since his mum’s death, he’s really struggled – and finding out about Warren’s existence was the only positive in his life. Now, he feels like he’s got nothing.
The question is: is he being genuine? And can he be forgiven for his previous actions? One thing is for sure: Warren won’t be too happy if he finds out that Jenson is still hanging around his family!
Mercedes star Jennifer Metcalfe talked about Jenson’s guarded personality in a chat with Metro last month, saying: ‘ ‘He is quite a guarded soul – and obviously some people are guarded in life and there’s nothing shifty about them – but there is an air of that Jenson’.
‘He’s just come into the village and nobody knows that much about him. Everything everyone thought they did know when he arrived was all a lie, so he hasn’t set himself in very good stead!’
