Real-life Hollyoaks couple Gregory Finnegan and Ariana Fraval shared a cute selfie during their French getaway.

Gregory left his long-running James Nightingale role on the Channel 4 soap last month.

James was controversially killed off during the Channel 4 soap’s stunt week, going up in flames shortly after reuniting with beau Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and finding out that he did not have a brain tumour.

Gregory subsequently addressed his departure, confirming to Metro that he was one of the casualties of the casting cuts, meaning that the decision to leave was not his.

The actor told us that he thought his character, one of the show’s most popular, had ‘more to give’.

Recently, he took to social media to share a photo with his wife, who played recurring character D.I. Cohen between 2019 and 2023.

He simply captioned the snap: ‘Bordeaux.’

Several of the actor’s co-star posted in the comment section, withg actor James Sutton commenting: ‘Gorgeous people.’

@misscjcy added: ‘Lovely couple!! God bless you and kids.’

Fans were devastated to see Greg leave the series – especially in the last week when the character became prominent in storylines again.

James’ husband Ste (Kieron Richardson) believes that James is alive – seeing him everywhere he goes.

It could well be his grief playing tricks on him, but on Wednesday we saw Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) – who has been by Ste’s side since the blaze – making quite a confusing phone call.

Ste was listening in to said phone call and came to believe that this is confirmation that James is still alive.

Greg later confirmed on Instagram that he wasn’t returning.

‘From the amount of messages I’ve got in the past 24hrs something appears to be happening on Hollyoaks’, he wrote.

‘It’s news to me.’

Earlier today he followed up his original post saying: ‘Thanks for all your messages… I’m as confused as you are…’
