Coronation Street’s Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) is left fearing the worst for his wife Abi Webster (Sally Carman) following the explosive house fire at the Platts’ this week.

Abi mental health has been rapidly deteriorating following the death of Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) last month, reminded of how son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) died in similarly violent circumstances back in 2021.

In the lead up to the fire, a fragile Abi ends up leaving Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) for dead inside No. 8.

It comes after she learns Toyah has reported her concerning behaviour to social services, worried for the safety of Abi’s young son Alfie.

As an argument breaks out between the women at the Platts’, Toyah accidentally knocks over a bottle of red wine, Abi is reminded of Seb covered in blood when he died and suffers a panic attack.

Toyah reaches out to Abi but in her confused state, Abi smacks her and rushes out.

But just moments later, someone pushes a lit rag through the letterbox and flames begin to engulf No. 8.

On Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap, Abi is missing in the aftermath of the fire, and after failing to find her, Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) voices her suspicions to a worried Kevin.

Abi manages to sneak back home to collect her things, but when she hears Kevin and Debbie entering, she heads out the back.

Having taken a call from Wendy Papadopoulos (Roberta Kerr) informing him that Abi collected Alfie an hour ago and seemed on edge, Kevin is left fearing for the worst…

Explaining why Abi feels like she has to flee, Sally Carman, who plays Abi, says: ‘She was having one of her PTSD episodes when it all happened she doesn’t actually know what she has done.

‘She sees the house is on fire and she doesn’t understand how that’s happened, but she knows it’s probably her doing. She was there. She was angry. There was conflict, but she doesn’t remember.

‘After that, she put two and two together, like you would and made five. Then she believes there is no other way out of it. She’s got too much history. She said too much. She knows she’s not well. She recognises these feelings. She doesn’t trust herself in any way.

‘She doesn’t trust her actions. So she’s like, the only one option I’ve got is to go and obviously because of Abi and who she is there’s no shortage of people who also believe that is what could have happened.’

Kevin’s fears are further realised when he later notices one of the jerry-cans containing a load of petrol is missing from the garage.

After reviewing the CCTV footage, he spies a hooded figure searching for one…

Could Abi really have started the fire at No.8?
